On Friday, September 12 and Saturday, September 13, the New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM) will host the 14th biennial Wolfeboro Vintage Race Boat Regatta on Wolfeboro Bay. Sanctioned by the Vintage and Historic Division of the American Power Boat Association (APBA), the Regatta features demonstration heats by dozens of historic race boats, including small outboards, Jersey Skiffs, Grand Prix hydroplanes, and more. The event is free for spectators.
“The Regatta has become one of the premier vintage race boat gatherings in the country,” said NHBM Executive Director Devon Kurtz. “It offers an up-close look at remarkable boats, the people who run them, and the traditions that shaped powerboat racing.”
Heats will run on both Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and taking place in scheduled classes throughout the day. The weekend will also include opportunities for the public to engage with participants and learn about the history and engineering behind the boats.
“It’s a uniquely Wolfeboro experience,” said Kurtz. “You can watch the action on the bay, meet drivers from across the U.S. and Canada, and immerse yourself in the culture of vintage racing—all at no cost.”
An Awards Dinner for participants will conclude the event on Saturday evening at The Barn at The Inn on Main in Wolfeboro. Full Regatta details, including the daily schedule, are available at nhbm.org/the-regatta. “The Regatta brings together enthusiasts, families, and first-time visitors,” Kurtz added. “It reflects NHBM’s commitment to celebrating boating heritage in ways that are engaging, educational, and fun.”
