Each summer, the New Hampshire Boat Museum and the Town of Wolfeboro’s Parks and Recreation Department partner to offer an instructional sailing program for all ages. Our Head Instructors have undergone the rigorous US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 instructor certification and for the keelboat class, Basic Keelboat instructor certification.

Beginner and Intermediate: Youth and Adults

Youth beginners start off in Optimist dinghies and adults in Sunfish sailboats. All students are taught basic single-handed sailing skills. Students may progress to advanced classes in Sunfish or double-handed sailing in our sporty Vanguard 15’s.  Advanced levels will likely include some racing competition. Our small boat program is designed as a continuum, making sure there is always a next step that a capable and interested sailor can take.

All small sailboat classes take place at Albee Beach on Lake Wentworth in Wolfeboro, NH.

Keelboat Sailing – Beginner thru Advanced: 16 years and over

Large sailboat sailing classes are offered on Lake Winnipesaukee. The keelboat program for students 16 years and older is where you get to both crew and helm a 22 foot keelboat on the big lake.  You will be taught basic sailing and seamanship skills as well as learning your way around a boat. There is now an advanced class for sailors with some prior big boat experience.

Keelboat sailing classes take place at Tuftonboro Town Beach at 19 Mile Bay in Tuftonboro, NH.
