Our dedicated volunteers are the driving force in the Museum’s success. Each year, over 150 volunteers spend thousands of hours designing, planning, and implementing our many programs and events. The minimum age to volunteer at the museum is 16. If under 18, volunteers must submit the written consent of a parent or guardian. All Facilities volunteers must be 18 years or older and have a valid driver’s license.
You too can help the Museum accomplish our goal of inspiring an understanding and an appreciation of the unique role New Hampshire’s lakes play in everyone’s lives. At the same time, you will discover:
A sense of accomplishment – From helping in our youth and adult boat building programs to helping organize and run our boat auction to working on the museum’s collection. No matter what your interest, there is a place for you as a volunteer.
A sense of community – You will make friends with other volunteers who are just as passionate about your special interest as you are, and maybe even develop a new interest.
A sense of fulfillment – Whether you work with the public or behind the scenes, what you do will not only help the Museum. You’ll also make a difference in the lives of others.
Volunteer Benefits
In the spring a kick-off volunteer morning open house is held at the museum. Here volunteers can enjoy coffee and breakfast treats with the staff and meet other volunteers, plus learn about upcoming volunteer opportunities.
At the end of the season in recognition of the dedication and the invaluable service they provide during the year, volunteers who have served over 30 hours in a season, and their spouse/guest are invited to an annual appreciation event held each autumn.
