The New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM) will host “An Evening with Pam Tarbell” on Thursday, August 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The free reception will celebrate nationally recognized artist Pam Tarbell, whose work features richly textured, colorful abstract paintings translating organic environments into layered patterns.
A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and a U.S. Art Embassy Artist, Tarbell exhibits her work across the country. Recent highlights include a 2023 solo show at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University and a 2024 commission to paint the awards for the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts Gala.
Her connection to the water runs deep. Raised near Narragansett Bay, she grew up cruising from Cape Cod to Block Island in her father’s wooden boat. In 1961, she crewed for Chuck Paine and his twin brother, Art, in the Sears (Junior) Sailing Rhode Island Championship, and later ran youth sailing programs while in college.
“What makes Pam such a natural fit for us is that her love of the water has been part of her life since childhood,” said Devon Kurtz, NHBM Executive Director. “That authenticity comes through in the way she sees a landscape and puts it on canvas…We look forward to welcoming her here.”
Featuring light appetizers and wine, “An Evening with Pam Tarbell” is free and open to the public.
