New Hampshire Boat Museum Welcomes Dan Lyons to Board of Trustees

In May, the New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM) appointed Dan Lyons to its Board of Trustees.

A Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley with the Market Square Group in Portsmouth, Lyons is a graduate of Brewster Academy and Marist College, where he earned a degree in Finance. He is an avid boater and sailor and crews on a 48-foot vessel that competes in the Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF), participating in classic yacht regattas and other sailing events.

“My love for boating started when I was a kid, inspired by my grandfather’s handcrafted mahogany boat and summers spent sailing,” said Lyons, who resides in Portsmouth.“Boating has always been a source of enjoyment and life lessons for me—from learning responsibility to understanding the science and art of being on the water.”

Lyons first became involved with NHBM through a connection with Board Co-Chair Jaime Laurent, who introduced him to the museum after college. He recently played a key role in organizing NHBM’s annual auction, which helps to raise awareness and support for the museum’s mission. “It was a great day and a lot of fun,” he added. “I enjoyed working with the team and seeing the community come together.”

As a new board member, Lyons said he looks forward to serving as an ambassador for NHBM and supporting its mission to promote the legacy of freshwater boating and safe boating practices. “I’m excited to help the museum grow and inspire the next generation of boaters,” he said. “There’s something liberating about being on the water—just you, the boat, and the wind.”

NHBM Executive Director Devon Kurtz expressed enthusiasm for Lyons’ appointment to the board. “His enthusiasm for boating, professional background, and commitment to our mission make him a valuable addition to our leadership team,” he noted.
