New Hampshire Boat Museum to Open Saturday, May 24

On Saturday, May 24, New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM) will open its doors for the 2025 season with new exhibits designed to educate and entertain people of all ages. In 2025, new exhibits include ‘Power and Propulsion,’ ‘Applications and Innovations,’ and ‘Speed and Sport.’ The central Marina Exhibit, ‘Mahogany Marvels,’ will feature various classic wooden boats, including early 20th-century Chris-Crafts.

“Whether you enjoy boating, lake life, history, or just a good story, we have something to engage everyone here at the Museum,” remarked Development Director Wendy Stocker.

In addition to special events like the upcoming Night at the Museum, NHBM offers vintage boat rides on Lake Winnipesaukee. “If you have not explored the Lake on the Millie B or Miss Lauren, you are missing out,” said Program Manager
Anne Lennon. “It really is a true step back into yesteryear.”

Through hands-on workshops and programs, NHBM also equips visitors with knowledge and practical skills. One of the deeper goals behind these and all NHBM programs—on or off the water—is its focus on stewardship and sustainability. “By preserving and sharing stories of boating innovation, NHBM connects the ingenuity of the past with the stewardship of tomorrow’s waterways,” explained Stocker.

In looking ahead to the season, Lennon credited a committed core of volunteers as instrumental in the planning and creation of this year’s featured exhibits. “So much of what people will see and experience here this summer results from the efforts of volunteers who collectively invested thousands of hours into NHBM this offseason,” she said. “I think visitors will be impressed by the fine details of the exhibit sets our volunteers have created.”

NHBM will open at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24. Museum hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free for NHBM members and children (9 and under), $15 for adults (over 18), $13 for seniors (over 65), and $10 for students (10-17).
