The New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM) is now booking group tours for the 2026 season, with new fall foliage itineraries pairing its vintage wooden boat collection with peak leaf-peeping season in the Lakes Region.
Located near the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, NHBM has become a growing stop on regional motorcoach and travel group routes. Offering a 45- to 60-minute docent-facilitated experience, NHBM walks visitors through the story of freshwater boating in New Hampshire — from early wooden craft to the innovations that shaped modern lake life. Groups meet the staff and volunteers who care for the collection and hear the stories behind the boats themselves.
The Moultonborough campus was built with motorcoach travel in mind. Ample bus parking, level entry with no steps, accessible restrooms, and a gift shop featuring Lakes Region products make it a straightforward stop for tour operators managing tight schedules and diverse guest needs.
New this year, NHBM is actively promoting fall foliage bookings. NHBM sits in the heart of the Lakes Region, one of New England’s most popular leaf-peeping destinations, pairing naturally with scenic drives along Route 25, farm stand stops, mountaintop views at Castle in the Clouds, and shopping at The Old Country Store (c.1781).
“Group tours are one of the most rewarding parts of our season,” said Devon Kurtz, Executive Director of NHBM. “Guests arrive curious and leave with stories they want to tell. Operators tell us the same thing — it’s a stop that lands well before, during, and after the visit.”
