Each summer, the New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM) and the Town of Wolfeboro’s Parks and Recreation Department partner to offer an instructional community sailing program for all ages.
“Our program is unique because it offers something for everyone—from a total beginner to an experienced sailor looking to hone their skills for a modest cost,” said Kerry Lynch, Chair of NHBM’s community sailing programs.
These programs include Youth Sailing, Adult Small Boat Sailing, Keelboat Sailing for Adults, and Sport Sailing, the latter of which was introduced just last year.
“Our Sport Sailing program is really fun for people of all ages with some sailing experience who would like to ‘up their game,’” said Lynch, who is also an NHBM Board Trustee. “The program uses Sunfish and racing sloops with some amount of competition.”
NHBM community sailing programs range in price from $150 to $250 per week of instruction. For youth with financial constraints, NHBM offers scholarships.
“We do not want finances to present barriers,” added Lynch. “We want everyone who really wants to learn about sailing to be able to learn.”
Now open for registration, NHBM community sailing programs are guided by US Sailing Certified Level 1 Instructors. To register or for more information about pricing and dates, visit wolfeboro.recdesk.com or the Community Sailing Page on the NHBM website.
“Classes are filling up quickly, so sign up now,” added Cummings.
