This summer, people of all ages will not only build a boat, but paddle away in it on Lake Wentworth, an opportunity made possible through Boat Building classes at the New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM).
According to NHBM Executive Director Martha Cummings, classes for both adults/families and youth are filling up fast. “There is nothing quite like this program,” she said. “Thanks to our generous sponsors, we also offer scholarships for youth for Youth Boat Building and – new for 2022 – scholarships for the Family Boat Building class, too, so now is definitely the time to sign up or apply.”
2022 boat building scholarships are made possible by Wolfeboro Lion’s Club, New England Antique and Classic Boat Society, Captain Raymond Thombs Memorial Fund, New England Lyman Group, Tom and Rose McNamara, Edmund and Sara Dinsmore, and the Dr. Jim Forbes Scholarship Fund.
“These sponsorships ensure that no youth or family is deterred by the cost, who have a heartfelt interest in this opportunity,” added Cummings. “What we have seen over the years is that program participants of any age have an absolutely wonderful time and cherish this experience.”
