Longtime member and volunteer Bob Strough recently joined New Hampshire Boat Museum’s (NHBM) board of trustees. With a professional background in commercial aerospace marketing and sales, Strough described himself as a lifelong boater and “drawn to all things nautical.”
“I have a wide knowledge base of power and sailboat maintenance and operation as well as a deep commitment to boating safety,” he said. “I believe I can make a contribution to the expansion and outreach of NHBM in the areas of collections and exhibits, communications, safety education and sailing.”
Regarding NHBM’s future, he expressed enthusiasm for its mission to interpret the history of New Hampshire’s waterways through the vessels that plied those waters—and still do—in pursuit of commerce and recreation.
“New Hampshire has a rich history, much of which is tied to her lakes and rivers and the resulting commerce,” he noted. “In more recent times, recreation on and around our freshwater resources has eclipsed trade as the primary economic benefit.”
According to NHBM Executive Director Martha Cummings, the addition of Strough strengthens “an already strong and committed board.” “The museum is very fortunate to have expert guidance and support from a board that contributes in every way imaginable,” she said. “Bob joins a dynamic group of individuals who all share a singular commitment to our mission.”
