A fun, short-term commitment with a few meetings from February-April. Current Chair is Lisa Simpson Lutts. Opening Reception Committee: Another short-term commitment with a few meetings from March-early June to help organize this early June party to celebrate the opening of the museum. Current Chair is Lisa Simpson Lutts. Boat Building: Volunteers with basic woodworking skills are needed to provide one-on-one assistance during two school sessions. We prefer one-week commitments to keep continuity with students, but shorter periods are ok! Adult/Family class is in July and Youth Class in August (Mon-Fri). Chairs are Hank Why, David Ives, and Joe DeChiaro. Lake Wentworth Sailing Regatta: Need volunteers interested in planning and implementing this event held on the first Saturday in August. We need help on the rules committee, course committee, starter committee, race observers, awards persons, and refreshments committee. Chair is Joe DeChairo. Boathouse Tour: Volunteers serve as hosts/hostesses, guides, and dock attendants. The event will take place on Thursday, August 11th, but volunteers must also be available on the rain date of Friday, August 12th. Chair is Kristin Isley. New England Vintage Boat Auction: Volunteer opportunities include set-up, take-down, parking, security, auction “smalls”, and the museum store table. The auction will take place on a Saturday in July, date tbd. Summer Kids' Camp: Like kids? Assist with day camp during the third week of July with fun hands-on projects. You can commit for a day or the week. Chairs are Lisa Simpson Lutts and Jamie Laurent. Vintage Race Boat Regatta: The Vintage Race Boat Regatta takes place in September each year. This event occurs every other year. Volunteering opportunities include the hot pits, picket boats, dock masters, and the museum store. Committee Chairs are Donnie McLean, Bob Mueller, and Bill Marcussen. Lecture Committee: Help with the set-up, clean-up, and refreshments for the lecture series. There are usually 3 lectures every summer on a Thursday night in June, July, and August. The Chair of this committee is Carol Richardson. Community Sailing Program: Volunteers perform boat maintenance off season. Volunteers will also help moving boats & gear to Albee Beach at start and end of season. Chair is Joe DeChiaro. Grounds Maintenance: Assist with cleaning and repairs around the Museum grounds, especially at beginning of season in early May. Chair is Bob O'Brien. Model Yacht Club: Boat Rescue: Rescue and return to the dock any model yachts that need assistance and help to identify any infractions of rules at the Tuesday and Thursday Back Bay Regattas. Needed from 1-4pm (May – October). This position requires a boat, motorboat, rowboat, canoe, or kayak; we also recommend bringing safety vest, hat, water bottle, and boat hook.
