The events include: Ice Out Dinner & Auction (April), Opening Reception (June), 4th of July Parade, Boathouse Tour and Alton Bay Boat Show ( both Aug), and Festival of Trees (Nov). Vintage Boat & Car Auction: A major fundraiser for NHBM. Volunteers are needed for administrative support, planning, and day-of event. Various levels of commitment. Event is in July. Programs: Woodworking, sailing, model yacht kit building (remote-controlled sailboats), boat restoration - opportunities abound to get involved in NHBM's programs. They include: Boat Building (July & Aug), Community Sailing, and Model Yachting. They are run by volunteers and commitment levels vary. Office & Admissions Desk: Assist the staff in the office with clerical and data entry; participate in keeping the museum collections organized; or be the welcoming presence at the front desk, engaging with visitors and overseeing gift shop sales. Exhibits: Do you have a love of history and storytelling? Assist with the planning and implementation of the annual exhibit installation. Longer term commitment. Education: Assist staff with planning age-appropriate activities and programs for young visitors. Plus, enriching and fun programs for adults like the lecture series. Coming up with new programmatic ideas that serve the Museum's mission.
