Thank you for making this year’s “Virtual” Ice Out event a success!
We look forward to holding it in person again in 2022.
“Ice Out” is when the ice that has covered Lake Winnipesaukee all winter melts enough so that the M/S Mount Washington cruise ship can navigate between its landing ports in Wolfeboro, Alton Bay, Weirs Beach, Meredith and Center Harbor. The date of this event has been recorded for over 130 years. The exact date and time is now determined by an observer in a small plane that flies over the lake daily. When the pilot radios in the “Ice Out” call it is considered official! The celebration begins as “ice out” traditionally marks the start of spring in New Hampshire.
The Virtual Ice Out Party was a nod to our traditional in-person celebration event which normally includes dinner and a silent and live auction. All proceeds benefit the New Hampshire Boat Museum’s mission of preserving, exhibiting, and educating about the history of boating and life on New Hampshire’s lakes.
Thank you Charlie Moore the Mad Fisherman for helping make this year’s Virtual Ice Out Party a memorable one! And to David Miclette for the beautiful guitar music!
Thank you to our friends at O’Bistro and Canoe who put together a special menu for Virtual Ice Out Party attendees.
We’re grateful for all the businesses and families who donated to the Ice Out fundraising event.
Thank you to our 2021 Sponsors!
