On Wednesdays, June 25, July 16, and August 20, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM) will host Lake Discovery Family Days, a free educational program. Designed for families with kids in kindergarten through fifth grade, participants engage in a variety of interactive, boat-related activities, which include knot tying, building a boat from recycled material, navigation games, and more.
“This is a wonderful program,” said NHBM Executive Director Devon Kurtz. “Kids will have so much fun learning about lakes, water safety, and nature.”
On June 25, the session will focus on Boating Safety. Subsequent sessions will feature the themes of Will it float? (July 16) and Raingutter Regatta (August 20). “Each Lake Discovery Family Day is infused with the backdrop of the importance of our state’s waterways and their connection to New Hampshire’s history…We’re asking how we can protect them and keep enjoying them.”
Lake Discovery Family Days is sponsored by Eastern Propane and Lakefront Living Realty – The Smith Group. The June 25 session, Boating Safety, is sponsored by the Maconnell Family Foundation. “We’re very thankful for our sponsors that allow us to offer this program for free,” added Kurtz.
In addition to Lake Discovery Drop In Days, NHBM programs and activities of interest for kids (and families) include Boat Building, Boat Cruises in the Millie B and Miss Lauren, and Story Hour with The Moultonborough Library.
