NHBM Extends Virtual Lecture Series

In 2021, the New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM) held its first Virtual Lecture Series, which proved so popular that it is extending its run through early 2022.

“We had some internationally known rowers, all of whom provided unique perspectives on the sport of rowing,” noted Executive Director Martha Cummings, who cited a bonus addition to the series.

Anita DeFrantz, who captained the U.S. women’s rowing team that won a bronze medal in the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, joined NHBM during the holidays for a virtual lecture. Olympic rower and previous speaker in the series, Kathy Keeler joined the conversation with DeFrantz.

“She is an inspiring woman, a member of the International Olympic Committee, activist, author, and lawyer who has been instrumental in bringing more women’s sports to the Olympics,” added Cummings. “It was a privilege to have her part of our series.”

Available for viewing on the NHBM website through May, the series was made possible with support from New Hampshire Humanities in partnership with the National Endowment for the Humanities. Learn more at nhhumanities.org.
