Fans of classic wooden boats and early fiberglass vessels are invited to the 49th Annual Alton Bay Boat Show on Saturday, August 9 from 9:00 a.m. to noon, hosted by the New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM). At the event, vintage boat owners and spectators come together to celebrate New Hampshire’s boating heritage.
“This is one of the most exciting events of the summer for the whole family,” said NHBM Executive Director Devon Kurtz. “It’s truly a remarkable collection of boats, and spectators can get up close and talk with the owners.”
Vintage boat owners with wooden or early fiberglass boats (up to 1975) are encouraged to participate—no pre-registration is required, and docking is first-come, first-served. Arriving before 9:00 a.m. is recommended to secure a spot on the docks.
Spectators are invited to stroll the town docks, admire beautifully restored boats, and meet the passionate owners behind each vessel. Attendees can also cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award, helping to select First, Second, and Third Place winners.
“At the end of the day, it’s always fun to see which boats win awards,” Kurtz added. “As a spectator, it’s so fun to really engage with the event.”
While at the show, visitors are encouraged to stop by the NHBM’s tent to say hello, join or renew their membership, and browse a selection of museum merchandise.
“We are so thankful to our generous sponsors who make this event possible,” said Kurtz. The 49th Annual Alton Bay Boat Show is sponsored by Home Comfort, Goodhue Boat Company, North Water Marine, The NASWA Resort, Shibley’s Drive In, Shibley’s at the Pier, and Alton Home and Lumber.
