MEET SKIPPER

Your River Otter Guide to Adventure

Say hello to Skipper, the official mascot of the Junior Skippers Kids Club! Skipper is a cheerful river otter who loves boats, splashing in the lake, and helping kids explore the world around them. You’ll spot him right away—he’s the one wearing a bright captain’s hat and a big friendly smile.

Who Is Skipper?

Skipper grew up along the lakes of New Hampshire, where he learned all about boats, paddling, and water safety. He’s curious, brave, and always ready to try something new. Skipper believes that every kid can be a great explorer with a little practice and a lot of imagination.

What Skipper Loves

  • Building mini‑boats out of sticks, leaves, and anything he can find
  • Paddling across calm water to see what’s on the other side
  • Meeting new friends and cheering them on
  • Solving STEAM challenges (he’s especially good at floating and sinking experiments)
  • Telling stories about the animals and boats he sees on the lake

SIGNAL FLAG ACTIVITY

Our 2026 Junior Skipper’s Lake Discovery Days will offer engaging hands-on activities to discover how boating on NH’s lakes, rivers, and streams connect our past with our future. Families with children grades K-5 are encouraged to participate. Activity highlights this season will include: boat safety, exploring knot tying, navigation games, building a boat from recycled, and  rain gutter regatta.

Activities will take place at our Moultonborough campus museum.
