Youth Boat Building
Two concurrent weekly sessions during the season
Season 1: June 23 - July 3
Season 2: August 4- 15
Course hours are: 9 AM to 3 PM
Space is limited
   
The Youth Boat Building School will be conducted at the Museum for youth ages 12 to 16, building boats from kits they select for their own use now, and in the years to come.

The kits expected to be available for purchase are:
• Kayak:One person plywood kayak
• Six-Hour Canoe: A one person plywood canoe
• Optimist Sailing Dinghy: An 8 foot sailing dinghy.
• Bevin’s Skiff: A 12 foot skiff that will
   accommodate several adults.

Students will be taught the safe use of hand and a limited number of small power tools, to assemble the kits. At the end of each session, a special launching on Lake Wentworth will be held to celebrate the completion of the craft.

Adult and Family Boat Building
Course hours are: 9 AM to 3 PM
Tuesday 7/8 Thru Friday 7/11 or
Sat/Sun 7/5-6 & Sat/Sun 7/12-13
Space is limited

In conjunction with Wooden Boat Magazine’s nation wide sponsorship, the New Hampshire Boat Museum is offering this program for a single adult or a team of parent(s) and child who may select two weekends or four days during the week to assemble the boat project they select. The boat will be for their own use now, and in the years to come.

Kits expected to be available for purchase are:
• Kayak: One person Kayak
• Six Hour Canoe: A one person plywood canoe
• Optimist Sailing Dinghy: An 8 foot sailing dinghy
• Bevin’s Skiff: A 12 foot skiff that will
   accommodate several adults and can be adapted
   to handle a small outboard motor.

The Museum hopes that all interested youth and parents have the opportunity to participate in the boat building programs. An application for scholarship/ financial aid is also available.

Women's Kayak Building Week
July 14th to 18th
9 AM to 3 PM
Designed Just for Women. Learn the proper use of hand tools and epoxy to construct a beautiful wood kayak that is lighter than any commercial boat you can buy, but also rugged enough for years of enjoyable paddling. Using the fast and easy stitch and tape method you can construct a 15-foot work of art that everyone will admire. Painted bottom and varnished topsides blend color with natural beauty.

YOUTH SAILING
The Wolfeboro Parks and
Recreation Department

will offer weekly sailing lessons for Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced
Enrollment is limited to 6 students per class

For dates and times please check with the Town of Wolfeboro Parks and Recreation Department directly


Optimist Sail Boats and Sunfish Sailboats,
US Certified Instructor, Chase Boats supplied by
the New Hampshire Boat Museum.


Along with Beginners and Intermediate classes,
Advanced classes will be offered using Sunfish.
Taught by a US Certified adult sailing instructor.

A Green Fleet program will be offered for children who have successfully completed
the intermediate sailing program, or equivalent, and will compete against other
sailing programs around the lake. Green Fleet rules are designed for learning racing techniques.
Instructors work with the children during the “races”. Social interaction and learning
are considered more important than winning in Green Fleet racing.

Tentative Sailing Schedule.
School may be in session until around June 25th.
If that is the case, the sailing classes may be as follows:
June 30 - July 3 Morning - Beginners / Afternoon - Intermediate
July 7 - July 10 Morning - Beginners / Afternoon - Intermediate
July 14 - July 17 Morning - Beginners / Afternoon - Advanced
July 21 - July 25 Morning - Beginners / Afternoon - Intermediate
July 28 - July 31 Morning - Beginners / Afternoon - Intermediate
August 4 - August 7 Morning - Intermediate / Afternoon - Advanced

Fridays are reserved for any make-up for weather cancelations,
free sailing for recent graduates of the program and for race training
and racing against other schools.
