2009 Regatta Poster Announced
NH BOAT MUSEUM ANNOUNCES 2009 REGATTA POSTER
September 1, 2009.
The New Hampshire Boat Museum's 2009 Wolfeboro Vintage Raceboat Regatta commemorative poster will feature a new painting by local artist Peter Ferber. Posters signed by the artist will be available for sale at $30 at the event on September 18 and 19, with an opportunity to meet the artist each afternoon from 12 until 4pm.

Commissioned exclusively for the New Hampshire Boat Museum, the 2009 Regatta poster depicts Wolfeboro Bay circa 1930 with two well-known local Gold Cup raceboats from that period, Scotty-Too and Wild Cat. Well known for his thorough research, Mr. Ferber has recreated downtown Wolfeboro as it once was, including the railroad station at the former steamboat landing and buildings that are no longer there.

“The first poster that Peter did for us was the 2003 Regatta Poster which portrayed 3 Gold Cup boats with a long Winnipesaukee history on the course in a 1920s race,” indicated Hank Why NHBM Chair.

Why went on to explain that Mr. Ferber collaborates with the Museum on the subject and provides sketches along the way. Posters are sold through the Museum with proceeds benefiting its many programs and services.

The original painting will be auctioned (with a reserve price) at the Regatta's dinner at the Wolfeboro Inn on Friday, September 18. Tickets for the dinner are $45 per person and include a full buffet dinner and the opportunity to meet the drivers and racecrews. Purchase your tickets by calling the Museum at 569-4554.

The Wolfeboro Vintage Raceboat Regatta will welcome over 50 vintage raceboats from throughout the United States and Canada. There are many opportunities for the public to view the vintage boats and to participate. These include viewing the boats up close and personal during the registration and safety inspection on Thursday at the Wolfetrap (free) and on Friday and Saturday at the Wolfeboro Town Docks (free), on one hour cruises on board the Winnipesaukee Belle ($10), and in a ride on the course in a vintage raceboat ($100). Meet the Drivers Dinners include Friday night at the Wolfeboro Inn and the Awards Banquet Saturday night at the Wolfetrap Rawbar & Grille ($45, as well as a reception at the museum on Wednesday night ($25). Call the museum to make your reservation at 569-4554.

All proceeds of the event and sales go to support the New Hampshire Boat Museum, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization focusing on the history and heritage of boating on New Hampshire's lakes and rivers. For more information, call 603-569-4554 or visit nhbm.org.
