Volunteers Needed for Regatta
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR VINTAGE RACEBOAT REGATTA
August 10, 2009 - Wolfeboro, NH
.
Volunteers are needed for the New Hampshire Boat Museum's Wolfeboro Vintage Race Boat Regatta to be held on September 18 and 19 on Lake Winnipesaukee.

“It takes over 100 volunteers to put on this Regatta,” stated NHBM Chair Hank Why. “Many dedicated volunteers have been working for over a year to plan and organize this exciting event, and we need several more to help at the event itself on Friday and Saturday.”

Volunteer patrol boats are needed to help keep non-race boat traffic off the race course. “This is the best seat in the house,” stated Regatta Race Director Bill John, as patrol boats see the action close up and spend the day 250 feet off the running lanes. Volunteer patrol boats may sign up for either or both days, with the mandatory drivers' meeting at 7:15am and patrol lasting until 5pm. Free lunch will be provided and all volunteers receive a free commemorative regatta t-shirt.
A variety of dockside assignments are also available and include gate and pit security, dock crowd control, race boat starters, boat ride registration and others.

Those interested in volunteering are asked to call the Museum at 569-4554 as soon as possible.
Vintage race boats & crews come from all over the East Coast to participate, with over 50 expected this year. The heats will occur on Friday and Saturday, when demonstration laps will take place on a one-mile oval course on the bay.

New this year, the public may view the heats while on board the Winnipesaukee Belle, the beautiful sidewheeler owned by the Wolfeboro Inn. Each morning and afternoon, a one hour viewing from inside the course will be available for a $10 donation to NHBM. For those more adventurous, a ride of a lifetime on one of the participating race boats will be available for a $100 donation
