New Hampshire Boat Museum Presents “Archaeology Under New Hampshire Waters”
Learn about NH's Submerged Cultural Resources
July 23, 2009 - Wolfeboro, NH.
The New Hampshire Boat Museum in Wolfeboro is pleased to welcome Dr. David Switzer on Thursday, August 6 at 7pm for a presentation entitled “Archaeology Under New Hampshire Waters.”

An investigation of three shipwreck sites with Dr. Switzer will increase your understanding of submerged cultural resources and shipwreck regulations and introduce you to methods of carrying out nautical archaeology. The sites include one on Newfound Lake here in the Lakes Region and two in Hart's Cove at the mouth of the Piscataqua River.

The program will be presented by Dr. David Switzer, Professor of History Emeritus at Plymouth State University, who currently serves as Consulting Nautical Archaeologist for the State of New Hampshire. He is the recipient of PSU's Outstanding Teacher Award, as well as other awards and grants from National Geographic, Earthwatch and the NH Archaeology Society.

Guests are welcome to enjoy refreshments after the presentation and view the exhibits on display. This program is sponsored by the NH Humanities Council and is free and open to the public.

The New Hampshire Boat Museum has several upcoming events. Tickets for the August 13th Boathouse Tour are now available for sale at the Museum. Other events include the 33rd Annual Alton Bay Boat Show on August 8, and the Wolfeboro Race Boat Regatta September 17-19.
