DAY & OPEN HOUSE AT THE NEW HAMPSHIRE BOAT MUSEUM July 21, 2009 Wolfeboro, NH. The New Hampshire Boat Museum in Wolfeboro will host its annual Family Day and Open House on Saturday, August 1, 2009, from 9:30am to 1:00pm. Bring the family for a day of fun activities. Families can build a Cardboard Classic out of cardboard and duct tape, to be tested later in the morning at Albee Beach behind the Museum, with prizes awarded. Young children will be able to build a toy sail boat (while supplies last). Free to NHBM members, including those who sign up that day; for not-yet members, the cost of materials is $10 and $5 respectively. See many of the NHBM programs in action at the museum. Observe the operation of the Boat Building School, talk to some of the boat builders and see the boats theyre building. See the radio-controlled sailboats in a special presentation by the NHBM Model Yacht Club. When the action moves down to Albee Beach, the Community Sailing Program will be seen, as well as a possible kayak race by the Womens Kayak Building Class. Admission to the Museum is free during this open house. Families can enjoy the new childrens activities created to make a museum tour fun and educational. With different levels for different ages, some of these games are Eye Spy, Adventure Quest and Chris Cross crossword puzzles. All are welcome to enjoy a cook-out that will be available for a minimal cost. Other upcoming events include a free lecture on Archeology under NH Waters on Thursday, August 6 at 7pm and the 33rd Annual Alton Bay Boat Show on Saturday, August 8, 9am-12noon. Tickets are now on sale for the August 13th Boathouse Tour; tickets for the water tour in antique wooden boats are limited, so make your reservations now. The New Hampshire Boat Museum is a 501(c)3 educational nonprofit organization focusing on the boating history and heritage of New Hampshires lakes and rivers. The Museum is located at 397 Center Street (Route 28N), Wolfeboro Falls, 2 miles north of downtown Wolfeboro. Hours are Mon.Sat., 10am-4pm, and Sun. 12noon-4pm.
