The
New Hampshire Boat Museum Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment
of Ann W. Sprague of Meredith as Executive Director of the organization. Ms.
Sprague will oversee the development and implementation of programs and
services at the NH Boat Museum, including publicity and promotions, community
outreach, and fundraising activities. Ann brings a wide variety of
talents and leadership abilities that will help us continue to grow,
stated Hank Why, Board Chair. Selected from a large candidate pool, Why
indicated that Sprague seemed to be the best fit with a combination of shared
values, experience and skills for the job.Sprague brings to the NH Boat Museum a strong background in marketing and management in a variety of venues, including the history, retail, hospitality and tourism industries. She was most recently the Executive Director of the Lake Winnipesaukee Historical Society in the Weirs, which won the 2008 Finlay Foundation Membership Challenge for the highest increase in membership for an historical society in the state of New Hampshire. I had a terrific experience in the four years spent with the Lake Winnipesaukee Historical Society and broadened my knowledge on lake history as well as in nonprofit management, stated Sprague. I look forward to working with the NH Boat Museum's active board members and dedicated volunteers to preserve New Hampshire's boating heritage. Sprague presently serves on the Boards of Directors for the Association of Historical Societies of New Hampshire and is editor of its monthly electronic newsletter, The E-ssociate, and the Greater Meredith Program, the town's Main Street Program. She has previously served on the New Hampshire State Advisory Council for Travel and Tourism, New Hampshire Retail Merchants Association, Lakes Region Association, and other community-related committees. She has been a presenter at area historical societies, the Loeb School of Communications Telling Your Family Story Workshops, and the Governor's Annual Conference on Tourism, and has been published in national and international trade magazines. In the summer of 2008, she created Meredith Village Walking Tours, providing historical tours of her home town. Sprague is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and has received certification as a marketing director and a paralegal. Founded in 1992, the New Hampshire Boat Museum is a 501(c)3 nonprofit educational organization focusing on boating heritage and life on the lakes and rivers of New Hampshire, presenting exhibits and outreach programs, events, publications and hands-on activities. The Museum features a wide variety of antique and classic wooden boats, sail boats and canoes, as well as memorabilia, trophies and historical images. It is located at 397 Center Street, Wolfeboro Falls, 2 miles east of downtown Wolfeboro on Route 28, a 12 acre site formerly part of the Allen A Resort property, and will open for the season on Sat., May 23, Mon.-Sat., 10am-4pm, and Sun. 12noon-4pm.
