New Hampshire Boat Museum Announces Volunteer of the Year
October 31, 2009 - Wolfeboro, NH

The New Hampshire Boat Museum of Wolfeboro is pleased to announce the 2009 Volunteer of the Year Award has been awarded to David and Rae Lynn Warren of Melvin Village.

"David and Rae Lynn have made significant contributions to the New Hampshire Boat Museum in 2009 and their dedication and enthusiasm to grow and improve our organization is exemplary," stated Hank Why, Board Chair.

In addition to volunteering at events, creating an educational exhibit on The Lady of the Lake steamboat, and serving on the NHBM Education Committee, David has initiated new interactive family activities at the museum that have enhanced the visitor experience while at the museum.
Rae Lynn has taken on the laborious task of cataloging the museum’s collections, dedicating hundreds of hours to identifying, associating an archival number and description of each item, and then entering them into the computerized database. This is an important and time-consuming process that is a great benefit to the organization.

The New Hampshire Boat Museum is grateful to all the 200-plus volunteers who donated thousands of hours in 2009 to organize and host the many activities, programs and events that fulfill its mission. A celebratory cook-out was held recently at the Todaro Learning Center in Tuftonboro to thank these dedicated and enthusiastic individuals for their hard work.
Volunteer opportunities include participating in the NHBM’s boat building, community sailing, and model sailboating programs, as museum docents, assisting in historical research, writing articles, preparing educational exhibits and displays, and assisting at fundraising events such as the annual New England Vintage Boat Auction, Boathouse Tour, and Alton Bay Boat Show.  For more information, email museum@nhbm.org.
