A HISTORY OF THE NHBM MODEL YACHT GROUP
The model yacht group was established in 2008, with the assistance of
the New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM) and the Laconia Model Yacht Club,
to promote radio controlled sailing in the Wolfeboro area. Their mission
was to build and sail a fleet of sailboats, while providing participants
and spectators an avenue to enjoy this hobby. Read

Model Yacht News from The Back Bay Skippers
February 2012
SCHOOL
IS OPEN!!!!! Unlike, when we were young, our students are eager and
excited to start classes.
Carefully working through the thirteen page instruction manual, the students
are well underway on assembling their 1-meter Solings and having a great
time doing it. Having fun is the program goal. No problem there! Just
wait till we get these new boats on the waters of back bay.
Joel
Nelson has joined our group of instructors, giving us almost one on one
instruction. Thanks Joel.
This years NH Boat Museum Model Yacht School brings the total yachts built
to fifty-two. What an incredible fleet.
In
conjunction with the building school, Don McBride has been working diligently,
to put together a program to make us all better sailors. Volunteer instructors
have received their marching orders and are well underway in designing
the programs.
Our resident sailing guru, Ned Lakeman, will lead two programs on tuning
and tactics. (Ned is a past National Champion, in a couple of model yacht
classes and his walls are filled with sailing trophies.)
John
Russell and Wes Matchett will handle sailing rules. These experienced
skippers will keep us on the straight and narrow out on the water.
WATCH FOR UPDATES - The Back Bay Skippers stay busy all year long,
improving the program, so if you have an interest, don't be shy, let us
know and we will help you get started. We guarantee fun!!!
