BOAT MUSEUM OFFERS SPECIAL RIDES AT THE WOLFEBORO VINTAGE RACEBOAT REGATTA-
September 2, 2009. The New Hampshire Boat Museum's 2009 Wolfeboro Vintage
Raceboat Regatta will offer special opportunities for the public to view
and participate in restaging the historical vintage race boating on beautiful
Wolfeboro Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee on September 18 and 19. Winnipesaukee Belle In addition to free viewing at the Wolfeboro Town Docks, guests may view the heats from inside the race course on board the Winnipesaukee Belle. This beautiful sidewheeler will go out in the morning and in the afternoon and remain for one hour that allows flexibility for the day's activities. This is the best seat in the house to watch all the action. Tickets are available for $10 each at the Museum prior to the event and at Regatta Registration Booth at Cate Park (the gazebo at the Town Docks) at the event - look for the Boat Rides sign. Vintage Raceboat Rides For those more adventurous, a number of the vintage race boat drivers will be giving rides in demonstration heats on the course for a $100 donation. Choose from two Jersey Skiffs - Ofwego II and My Precious - and three Gold Cup Speedsters - Obsession, Compulsion and Yar Gar. The times for these rides are 12:30pm and 3:55pm, weather permitting. Racing life jackets and helmets are mandatory and will be supplied. Tickets are available at Regatta Registration Booth at Cate Park (Wolfeboro Town Docks) - look for the Boat Rides sign. For the ride of a lifetime, special arrangements can be made to ride on the Ed Shield's Grand Prix Hydroplane Catch Me If U Can and Marv Hart's Large Hydro Canadiana for a donation of $300 to the museum. Thanks go to the vintage raceboat owners and drivers who have donated these rides: Len Finethy, Marv Hart, Bill John, Chris Johnson, Bob Mueller, and Gerri Prusko. NHBM appreciates the generosity of the Wolfeboro Inn who has donated the use of the Winnipesaukee Belle. Founded in 1992, the New Hampshire Boat Museum is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit educational organization focusing on boating heritage and life on New Hampshire's lakes and rivers.
