The Wolfeboro Parks and Recreation Department
will offer weekly sailing lessons for Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced.
Enrollment is limited in each class.
For dates and times please check with the Town of Wolfeboro Parks and
Recreation Department directly.
Sailboats and chase boats
supplied by the New Hampshire Boat Museum.
Beginners and Intermediate Classes use Optimist and Weekender sailboats;
Advanced and Racing Classes
may also use Sunfish sailboats.
Taught by a US Sailing Certified instructor.
Classes take place on beautiful Lake Wentworth behind the Museum. The
cost is $45 for residents and $55 for non-residents. Classes are held
Monday through Thursday with Friday left open for a make-up day in the
event of a weather-related cancellation.
All participants must pass a swim test.
A Racing Class may be offered for children who have successfully completed
the advanced course or equivalent. Students may compete against other
sailing programs in the Lakes Region. Green Fleet rules will be used and
are designed for having fun while learning racing techniques. Instructors
coach the sailors on the water during the races. Having fun, learning,
and social interactions are more important than winning in Green Fleet
racing.
If you are interested in enrolling a child or grandchild, please sign
up with the Wolfeboro Parks & Recreation Department as soon as possible.
Registration is typically over 70 students,
so space is limited.
