Youth Boat Building : Session 1
Description:
The Youth Boat Building School will be conducted at the Museum
for
girls and boys ages 12 to 16, building boats from kits
they select for their own use now, and in the years to come.
The kits expected to be available for purchase are:
• Kayak:One person plywood kayak - max #160lb
• Six-Hour Canoe: A one person plywood canoe
• Bevin’s Skiff: A 11'6" skiff that will accommodate
several adults.

Students will be taught the safe use of hand and a limited number of small power tools, to assemble the kits. At the end of each session, a special launching on Lake Wentworth will be held to celebrate the completion of the craft.

Student Scholarships
The Museum hopes that all interested youth have the opportunity to participate in the boat building program. Scholarships are available for the Canoe only. An application for scholarship/ financial aid is available. Medical/Waiver form MUST accompany application.
