Island Outing

Peter Ferber Original Painting “Island Outing”

The Antique and Classic Boat Show 2002 Poster Artwork

These are the ORIGINAL paintings by Peter Ferber used to print the posters from. Rare and valuable.

For the first time, three original Peter Ferber paintings used for the famous Antique and Classic Boat Show poster collection, will be available to the public at the New Hampshire Boat Museum Auction on July 15 at 10:00 AM.

This fishing party from the early 1900’s has set up camp on Little Whortleberry Island on Lake Winnipesaukee. The long deck canoe with torpedo style ends in the foreground was also known as a courting canoe with the gentleman paddling in a kneeling position against the stern thwart and the young lady seated in the bow facing him. The rowing skiff features a graceful wine glass transom, and in the background a venerable Old Town is pulled up on the sand. A few examples of antique fishing equipment are scattered through the scene including wicker creels and pack baskets.

This represents a great opportunity to purchase a Peter Ferber original and a part of New Hampshire boating
and lake history. For years the posters have been collector items, now three of the originals will be auctioned
individually at the NHBM auction.
